Yep, that was probably R-11, a wonderful cleaning solvent that is now 
banned...sigh.  It was a nice liquid at 70 degrees or so and evaporated 
without leaving a film.  The electronics industry loved it...cleaning 
tape heads transports, etc.  I've used gallons of the stuff cleaning 
HVAC parts.
