[GreenKeys] Mite TTY print head pad repair

What's the best way to repair a print head pad for a Mite?  Luckily it fell out on the table. Consists of a tiny metal plate glued to a rubber pad which is in turn glued to the hammer assy. but the rubber pad that glued the metal pad to the hammer was rotted. There was also a tiny 1/32 in long dowel embedded horizontal in the rubber. The rubber pad appeared to be the same thickness as the dowels diameter. Any ideas on repairing and glueing rubber to metal?
