I was given a thing at a ham swap meet yesterday, a 3 1/2" rack panel with
a chassis and bunch of PC boards inside. One of them is a DT-600 RTTY
demodulator board, although not fully populated. There's another board
with two toroids, a board with a microprocessor, and a board with
a Calectro audio amplifier mounted on it, as well as a power supply.
On the back are a power input and output outlet, a 34-pin connector,
connectors marked MIC and SPKR and six DB-25 connectors, one marked
CLOCK and the others marked INPUT-OUTPUT. There's a solid-state relay
inside, presumably to control a TTY motor.
The microprocessor is an 8085 and there is presumably a ROM chip marked
RASCAL V1.3 NNN0PRM MD/DC.
The front panel says VHF COMM CENTER LEWTRONIX
There's a 50 microamp meter in the middle with a switch under it
TU-RX. A toggle switch MD-VA A 3 position toggle switch
REPEATER STDBY SIMPLEX Knobs SQUELCH and VOL toggle switch
RCVR AUDIO VOICE ALL OFF
ON-OFF toggle switch and PWR light Lights RF SIGNAL and RATT SIGNAL
lights TX VOICE and TX RATT switch 170HZ 850HZ switch XMIT RATT
3 position toggle switch AUTO START SEL CAL RESET and toggle switch
TRAFFIC ALL STATION
So it looks like something connected to a VHF transceiver, was used in
the Virginia-Maryland area, and NNN0PRM looks like a MARS call sign.
It's more or less professionally built, small lot production - all the
wiring is cabled with many cable ties.
