[GreenKeys] Why has the '#' symbol been called a number sign, pound sign, and now 'hashtag'?

Exactly.   My first thought after reading Eugene' comment was "Oh no, if 
you start calling it an 'octothorpe' you're going to send all kinds of 
snowflakes running to their safe spaces!"  ;-)
