Agreed…the pix were great! I noticed a Johnson Navigator. That little rig
appears to be going for a lot of $$ these day, if one can be found. I wonder
how the overall prices were? I went to a fairly large Hamfest in Sussex County, NJ,
last summer and the asking prices for Ham gear were on the high side. I think a
lot of the stuff went back home with the sellers.
The Fair Radio pix were fabulous. I miss their printed catalog. Looks like
the GRC-106 stuff is piling up…
I went to Dayton a few times many years ago (mid-90’s?)…I was disappointed that there
was not a lot of “Ham gear”. There was a lot of junk and two-way radio stuff.
One two-way dealer had so much stuff he was using Motorola SYNTOR’s to hold down his
tent. It looks like the recent show was much better, Ham-gear-wise.
If things work out, I plan to go next year. Maybe we can all converge on
Nick’s table…a Greenkeys mini-convention! Many years ago the RTTY Journal
sponsored a dinner/meeting during Dayton. Unfortunately, in those days
my work schedule never allowed the time to go.

Subject: [GreenKeys] Nick's pics from Hamvention...
Hi all!
The pics Nick had provided for us to view were so
Interesting of all the ham & related radio gear...
It truly was a walk thru memory lane...
For us folks who are too far away to be there
In person, it affords us the opportunity to see and
enjoy so much of the vintage radio gear of yesteryear...
Of particular interest to me was a glimpse of
an old Knght-Kit "Ocean Hopper" receiver, a three tube
plug in coil regen receiver...
This was my first "Kit-build" receiver, and ushered
in an interest of radio & electronics which I still
enjoy to this day!
Also noticed a Hallicafters HT40 transmitter, my first
rig right after gtng my hamticket...I still have this xmtr!
Did my heart good to notice a Knght-Kit "Star-Roamer"
receiver, my fist "Real" short wave receiver, gone with
the regens at last!
Tks so much Nick, for making a lot of folks happy
to see these wonderful pictures...
