What the previous owners (civil engineering service) had done was pull the wire on punch #6 and recoded the keyboard to ITA2! This way, results from the LGP-30 could be sent directly over their model 32 Telex machine to the field. -C

Good to see another working example of these mechanical marvels!
Am also engaged in some Flexowriter repair... I have a (was working)
SPD 8 level machine, but it lost the ability to punch tapes while
sitting idle for a couple of years. (Was in a dry location with two
cats handling rodent interdiction.) Turns out four of the nine punch
driver magnets had opened. After disassembling the punch assembly, I
found the four bad coils and rewound one (mine seem to have been wound
with #41 copper and fortunately I had a big spool of that). Twas a
very tedious task without a rewinding tool (which I need to get before
I try this again...) I used my lathe but tension handling was a big
problem.
I've seen a number of cheap (probably an accurate description) winders
on eBay (and Amazon) but the mandrill is about .25 inch diameter and an
integral part of the tool, so putting these coils on them (which have
centers that are about 3/32 by 1/2 inch) onto them is not possible.
Short of building a winder from scratch, does anyone have a suggestion
of a tool that could help out? If I recall, the coils have about 2000
turns of #41 so doing this 'by hand' would be problematic.
