I’m sorry because I feel like we are hijacking the iTelex thread. iTelex is really great system and our friends in Germany have done a great job with it and many of us plan to try it at some point. But since ITTY was mentioned in this thread I think it is best if I respond here to Tony’s question, but I have changed the subject..

There are two ITTY/AUTOSTART systems. One is in Sequim, WA and is operated by George Hutchison W7TTY. The other is in Arvada, CO and is operated by me.

They are similar but not the same. Here is Arvada:

ITTY: HTTP://INTERNET-TTY.NET:8000/ITTY
AUTO: HTTP://INTERNET-TTY.NET:8030/AUTOSTART <http://internet-tty.net:8030/AUTOSTART>

and here is Sequim:

ITTY: http://itty.rtty.com:8000 <http://itty.rtty.com:8000/>
AUTOSTART: http://autostart.rtty.com:8030 <http://autostart.rtty.com:8030/>
ITTY is 24/7 news. AUTOSTART works different. It broadcasts out what users send to it, like a reflector. And sometimes Tom Tilson sends out a Saturday picture show on AUTOSTART.

The Arvada AUTOSTART system sends out news of the day at several points in the day and also sends out the Greenkeys news feed. I'm not sure if the Sequim AUTOSTART system sends out anything other than what people send to it.

For BOTH of these AUTOSTART systems you can send a file to them and they will broadcast it back out to everyone who is listening. You have to use a program called RTTYMailer to do that. With the Sequim AUTOSTART system this is the only option. For the Arvada system, you can use RTTYMailer or you can SOON send an email to a specific email address and have it broadcasted out (this last part is in testing now - if anyone wants to try it send me an email).

There are also some differences in which media players can be used. I’ve been told that the Arvada system works well with the standard out of the box windows, mac, iOS, Android and linux media players.

Also very recently Bill, KE3BK, did some analysis on my signal and identified a problem with buffering. Until I have time to fix that, you must set the buffer for your audio player to 60 seconds. This can be done in the performance settings for your media player.

AUTOSTART works really great when you have a motor start relay on the loop. When it starts broadcasting, the motor kicks on automatically.
