Rob,

Yes I still am slightly schizoid about it, but in reality:-

1.	I didn’t have room for it.
2.	I doubt I would have got it working,
3.	I don’t have a suitable working machine to connect it too…
4.	The VAXrn get more use…

Having a decent collection policy is hard….

Here in the UK they don’t go for a crate of beer either because you never see any available, I am pretty sure the last one I saw went for a couple of hundred pounds or more. I did once pick up a Model 35 typing unit for very little though, I donated that to the Jim Austin collection. I have to say I was very lucky with my Model 33, as someone else on this list swapped it for something I had. I think he might say “bullied” or “coerced”, I like to think “persuaded” :) I’d pay a crate of beer for another one if I had room (perhaps I would *make* room for another 33).

There is no real demand for ASCII machines over here.

There are not too many around but if one appears it goes for low money

or free pick up.

Unfortunately shipping to the U.S: would be to expensive.

WOW!!!  A crate of beer for a Model 33!

Well my man, you find me a Teletype Model 33 ASR that is in LIKE NEW condition - just like the one that Wayne restored and is now being offered on ePay -  and I will send you TWO crates of beer!

It takes Wayne between 20-30 hours to do a full "frame off" restoration on one of these beasts.  Let's see, at the $600 hourly rate my Patent Attorney charges, that would be between $12,000 and $18,000 - so Wayne is a bargain by that standard.

Jeebus Henning, I will give you 3 crates of beer for an "as-new" Model 33.  Let me know when you have one lined up for me please.

Wayne, looks like the ASR 33 you restored is back on eBay (272795231224).  I was looking through the photos and just wanted to tell you that you do excellent work!  It looks brand new! If I didn’t know any better I’d think you found one in a crate that was never opened.
