I will toss in another one, what drawing(s) you have may not apply to the
19 you have. Even if they came attached to the unit. If your 19 ever got in
the hands of a Ham Radio operator, 99% chance what is in a
Teletype/UW/Bell/etc drawing will not even come close.
But before that, get the RTTY handbook (scanned ?) If not try
http://www.samhallas.co.uk/repository/telegraph/introduction_to_RTTY.pdf
Get the Adjustments, Parts, and Theory. Take some time to go through them.
Have a cheap current 100 mA current meter ? You can replace the above with
it.
Live near Harbor Freight ? Get one for free about ever 4 months.
What is your power source ? put the current meter in series if it does not
say 60 mA
with its output shorted. unshort the output, and put a volt meter across
the output.
Does it say 80-120 VDC ? If either of the above are not yes, put the 19
away and
fix your supply. Then
Put the power supply across the magnets ? does the printer shut up ? yes
put the supply across the terminals you think are the right ones. Does the
printer
shut up ? yes. disconnect the supply does the printer go nuts ? yes. Your
done.
Keyboard, connect to terminals you think are the right ones. Does the meter
show 60 mA, no wrong terminals or some connection missing, broken etc.
Fix
Show 60 mA .. Power to the 19 motor off, hold down a key, hand rotate
the motor, watch the keyboard look for a contact opening, does the meter
show 0 mA ? your done.
No .. etc etc etc
