Alan Hobbs wrote in 2003:

"When the model 7 was finally introduced in 1931, it
was a truly state-of-the-art machine...
... During its production life of 38 years, over 101,000
model 7s were produced, in many different versions."

So 1931 to 1969 is the span of Model 7 production. We don't know whether
the serial numbers went across all models or only the 7B. Sadly Alan is
no longer with us to ask. (Another article can be found on Gil's web
site at: <http://www.baudot.net/creed.htm> )

The Model 54 superseded the 7 about 1954, but I'm not sure whether the
NZPO took that up. The British Post Office went straight from Model 7 to
Model 444 between 1965 and 1968 as far as I know.
