Thought I would jump in on this also. The red Glyptol also was available
in spray cans
which is a lot thinner of course as compared to the product in a small
paint can, I have
several small cases of this spray, it was applied to motor windings and
generator windings
to help insulate and protect them, the spray is easy to apply with as many
coats as needed
for the job...

I always called it just "red glypt" and it was commonly used to mark and
semi-lock trimmers and adjustment screws. It didn't lock things with the
solidity of Locktite, but it did clearly mark them as "do not tweek."
