[GreenKeys] Dynamic vs Static IP address for i-Telex

Thought I might offer still another view of this situation as put forward a
short time ago by Ken and Henning.

In getting my i-Telex system running I did NOT have to have a STATIC IP
address on the Internet side of my router. The DYNAMIC IP address assigned
by my ISP functions with i-Telex just fine.

The need for a STATIC address on the LAN side of the router is because your
router will have to forward one 'port' address to that static address (by
default 134, but can be changed).

And by default the i-Telex system comes setup to obtain a DHCP address from
your LAN. This can be changed by the user to a static address. If you have
the capability of reserving a DHCP address to a specific MAC address then
you can leave the i-Telex system in the DHCP mode and it will always get the
same IP address. If you can't reserve a DHCP address to a specific MAC
address, then you need to change a static address available on your router.
Whichever way you use to get an IP address for your LAN, that address will
have to have port 134 forwarded to it.

Now if I have muddied the waters too much!

And that is not me trying to sell a M32ASR for big bucks!!! But I am going
to try to find out who it is!

i-Telex: 30083
