[GreenKeys] Take our Teletypes!

Paul/Gil/List ...

Donating to a museum is a tough call. By doing so your giving away all
rights, unless the item is loaned. For example the Smithsonian loans out
Apollo capsule to other museums with quite a list of conditions.

In defense of a museum they usually only want one of an item, any after
that it is quite uncommon for them to keep more of the same. In some cases
like MOC, others are kept for spare parts.

Now on the other side of the fence, museums, or actually those that 'own'
the museum should do a better job of disposing of excess. With today's
Internet there is no excuse for not having a trading system, even it is
just a mail reflector like greenkeys.

Flipping back the other side, MOC may have already done so, and such a
reflector may exist.

I had long ago been approached by a local museum for some of my items (not
Teletype) and I offered to them to loan them the items with simple
conditions that they could not change, modify, mutilate, sell etc without
my permission and I offered that I would give a minimum of 6 months if I
wanted them back. I was turned down.

So bottom line, if you donate it is gone.

I'm glad MOC is there, and hope they can keep their arrangement with the
landlord. If the worse comes they will be given a year to move instead of
this land lord.
