What an absolutely amazing piece of gear (literally). And to think that
such a complex and expensive piece of technology could be replaced with
$5-10 worth of MP3 player and headphone-driving amp.

Pick a file with the correct rate & content for the exam, send it to the
player, and out over the amp to the phones of the users.

Speaking of.. not to hijack this, but have you seen the $1 MP3 players the
Chinese are selling on eBay these days? Literally $1, shipped, and they +do
work+. You must supply your own 1/8" phones, a USB-mini cable and Micro-SD
card (1-8GB). Charges off the port, where it acts like any other USB mass
storage.

Nothing on the board but ONE 16-pin SMD chip! The rest is connectors,
bubble-switches and a cheapo rechargeable battery. Nuts.
