[GreenKeys] Navy Teleprinters

Thanks to Larry, K2JIA, I have two very nice MITE receive-only
printers

that are available for the cost of shipping. Both are Navy gray
and they have

their shock mount plates. I do not know the operational condition,
but

they look complete.

These things are heavy, so expect a hefty shipping cost and
additional

cost for suitable boxes.

Please let me know if interested.

Hi Don sorry about the late reply , I had a surgery recently and
have been recovering from that thank you for your thoughts.
I had a 400 Hz generator that I picked up in North Carolina, but
sold it a while back. Look forward to hearing from you and 
getting rid of those old relics

First I am saddened by your loss. I am third generation U.S. Navy
and served as an air crewman. Twice I came close to losing my life
but I survived. The teleprinter you have used to be installed in
the U.S. Navy's P-3C Orion aircraft in the
Navigator/Communicator's position. The printer is supposed to have
an associated keyboard. Some HAM radio operators have test stands
or motor generators that can provide the needed 400 Hz. At the
time these printers were introduced the Navy crews were a bit
surprised as Radio Teletype (RTTY) was almost never used in Navy
patrol planes. The previous teleprinter in use for many years in
the Radioman's position was a small unit called the MITE.
The only thing we used it for was in local mode to write letters
home.
I will advise our RTTY group on the web to see if I can find one
of our group that might want to purchase the unit and come to your
location and pick it up. Shipping all types of machines these days
is very expensive.
