[GreenKeys] ASR 33 motor buzzing

So sorry for the non-responses from me. I have Outlook doing a rule sort and for some reason it was not passing replies from Greenkeys to the Greenkeys box. I thought you guys weren’t responding! (doh!).

My motor does not have a capacitor. I’ll try a 3A slow blow fuse here and see what I get.

Apologies again for missing all this and all other replies! Darned Outlook!

Brad

Brad,

Nick is correct. But first try a slightly larger fuse. 3 amp slo-blow. Not all motors have the capacitor. The dog bone or cast frame (181814) one does not. The 181870 model has a start cap.

Larger fuse and give the motor fan a spin towards the front of the machine.

The start relay can cause the problem as well. Its next to the cap and fuse.

I think you have two problems. The motor starting problem and the bad capacitor in the UCC-6. I think its 250mf. Its the electrolytic cap in front of the large green resistor with taps on it. You said earlier in an email that the machine buzzes when you first plug in the AC with the switch in the Off position.

I have motors, start cap, start relay and the cap in the UCC-6. All used but good.

Get back to me when you do more testing with the motor.

Wayne
