Ed,
The WU model 20, 21, 22 series strip printers (made by both Morkrum and
Kleinschmidt Electric for WU) had five selector magnets and connected to
a receiving multiplexer similar to the transmit one.
So, yes, a message sent over a WU 1A tape transmitters could have been
printed out on a WU 21A strip printer.
The message could also have been printed out on a Morkrum M12 page
printer, as it was also originally designed for mux service with five
selector magnets. With the addition of a plug-in key board to the M12,
it became a "direct to line" serial machine. The keyboard had a serial
keyboard distributor (similar to what was used on the M11 and later on
the M14 & 15). The keyboard also had a "receiving distributor"
(serial-to-parallel converter) to allow the 5 separate selector magnets
to operate from the serial line.
