[GreenKeys] WU 1-A pics

    This photo reminds me of a question someone on this list might be 
able to answer. Note the patent notice on the label is a date of issue 
rather than a patent number.  I was told or read somewhere  that patent 
_numbers_ were required after 1927 but that either the date of issue or 
the number could be used before that. Does anyone know for certain. A 
search for patent law gets into such a thick jungle of convoluted stuff 
that I have not been able to find an answer. Knowing would be another 
clue in dating stuff.
