well you can try to find another case or.... or just cut the holes in
the one u have if you want to match the photo .... which may have had
cases swapped along its life if did nit have a lever behind the oval
hole
but it really may be a bell read on....
and Jim Haynes even thought the Bell case not the WU case were the ones
with TWO holes one round one oval... although I have deaf friends that
had 2 b's the claimed were WU and the had the 2 holes.
BUT IT MAY ALSO HAVE BEEN A W.U. Friend that had some old Bell 14s thay
gave them..
see the picture in one of the past messages with the soft of fuzzy green
TTY I sent. unfortunately too fuzzy to see if there is the throw
lever behind the oval hole or if it was like my lever less 2b but just
a 2 hole case dropped over it.
My 2b's have round hole only...
My bell typing reperf had a oval hole... and a little lever switch. if
you 2b does not have lever thing where the oval hole would go it
never had the oval cutout...
also as you saw Dan's 2b it has only round hole also.... ( this is a
beauty of a 2b!)
as a prop to make one my 2b that goes in the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing display like their photo so I am looking for a 2 hole case as well!
Dick> to make things even stranger your unit in that photo and they
used it for RCA stuff and not Western union or the mix of RCA and WU
usage ended the station up with a bell unit. an early bell unit would
look like a 2b.......
my advise is get it clean get it working worry about case issues after
getting all other done or if it is bell they used with the lever...
someday one will come along... I am also curious as to the 2 tape
printers in my garage that went in there 20 years ago that I need to move
everything else to get to ... I stowed them as they were not the typing reperf
like I started my tty life with..
So anyway one was from Bill Breniman of society of wireless pioneers
he gave us over 20 years ago ...
(heh heh heh wouldn't it be something if it was actually the one from
your station?!?! ))
the other one was a gift from a terminal leasing guy that finally gave
it to me because he know I liked old stuff ...
BUT! it will take more effort than Indiana Jones went though to get that
crystal skull to exhume them in a timely manner. Now that I am totally
teletype obsessed trying get these display for the museum SMECC done I
do need to go digging.... for them and also some scr 268 radar display
scopes that are back there.

Ed> yes... if you go back to the flurry of messages we
had when you were deciding to get it there was
some discussion of that Dick.
RD> Right, thanks for the reminder. So now we add a 2B case to the list
of things needed!
