if  just a  few messages  a  day .... on of  on  off  probably  good  but  
if  a lot of messages....  it   would  stress the motor  going  though lots 
of  start cycled  every hour no doubt.....
 
 
I  would love to  find a model  20   we   would love a linotype....
 
but... I have  found part of a monotype...  did monotype   ever have   tty  
work  with it?   this  monotype  is just the monster  gaint    prt of it   
not  the  separate adn really  cool   keyboard....   tell me of  
monotypes......

Motor  control might have been just one more maintenance failure point, 
considering  the AP machines were not always at locations which had maintenance 
 personnel.

Curious as  Our  UPI printers  do not seem  to have anything internal 
except wires  going to the coils and   wire  for power to the machine.

I  remember the UPI model 15 motor ran continuously at my local BC  station.
