WHICH VIDEO HAD THE BRACKET?

Thank you for your response. I am a novice at this machine. My dad is an
Linotype mechanic, and I've had the pleasure to see Linotype and Intertype
machines working, even watched him take one apart for transport.

Ok, so, from what I gather, the no print bracket prevents that 9th arm from
 lifting, is that correct?
I'm also assuming it's ok to stop this arm from moving, I mean to say,
doing so will not cause damage to it's driver.

As for the punching... well, I learned something new. I was told that the
Punch ON and OFF buttons did not work on this model, but that is not true.
When I press the Punch ON, the tape punches everything as typed in local
mode (I assume it's no different than what is received in Line mode).
Pressing the <CTRL>-R and <CTRL>-T keys punches the correct codes on the tape.
Which are codes 0x12 and 0x14, in Space/Mark language that's SMSSMSSS and
SSMSMSSS as they appear across the output tape from left to right, which
is the reversed binary codes.

Only when I turn Punch OFF, it does not stop punching until I send a TAPE
OFF (<CTRL>-T) code.

So, I am fine with this functionality for punching...

Thanks for your patience and help.
Regards,
Josh Bensadon

Mike Douglas has a special bracket that prevents the printing. I always
thought I would try to make one of these. You can see it in action in one of
his videos on YouTube. His channel is deramp5113. Sorry I don't have the
exact video link handy at the moment.

I have a later model ASR33, I am wondering about 2 things.

When I send a file to the unit for punching, I want to suppress the
printing of the data.

Next, I found that codes 0x14 and 0x12, stop and start the punch (<Ctrl>-T
and <Ctrl>-R).
How do I punch these codes on tape without stopping the punch? Is there an
escape sequence?
Or is this ASR just not meant to punch binary codes?

Help?
