I assume even in WWII Germany had 50hz/220v mains like the rest of Europe, so either the motor or the gears would have to be different. I think its usually the gears as its common to run the US motors off an transformer.

There, that's the information I needed. If the parts were not interchangeable then of course Lorenz would use their own motors. All along I assumed, erroneously, that the parts were interchangeable. It makes perfect sense now. Thanks for clearing this up for me everyone!
