If you look at the Lorenz Lo-15, it clearly looks "just like" the Teletype
Model 15. But "just like" is in no way "exactly like."

As Henning mentioned, the first obvious thing is that all the hardware
is metric. This also includes gears, shafts, connectors etc.

Rather than start from scratch and design an entire machine, buying
the design rights from Teletype gave them a complete working design
that they could then modify slightly to suit their application without
involving lawyers and copyright infringement.
