If you go on YouTube and search for "Smith Corona SL500 becomes a
Teleprinter" you'll find a reference to a web site describing this
person's project.
I have an old Sears typewriter, made by Brother, that has a Centronics
interface connector on the side so it can be driven by a computer.
It's got so it doesn't type anymore, and I don't know if it isn't hitting
the daisywheel hard enough or if it's the carbon ribbon failing to
transfer the ink to the paper.
Did you know that Teletype Corp. invented the daisywheel printer before
1939? See U.S. Patent 2,146,380. Of course without modern electronics
it wasn't very practical; or at least it was no better than the printing
mechanism used in the Model 26 and the earlier stock ticker.
