It's horrifying when history goes up in smoke. A few years back I was in communication with Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum about a spare pair of vintage Baker-Nunn satellite tracking cameras, hoping to arrange for one to come to Peterson AFB's museum NORAD display. A month or two into the dialog they had a storage building fire that destroyed both along with a lot of WWII aircraft parts. What a sinking feeling that day was.

A couple of items...

1 - This is the weekend of the famous Puyallup Mike & Key Radio Club annual ham radio swapmeet.
I am attending, and will not be available for instant ITTY Probs. However, you may call me on my cell, 360-775-1128, should something happen.

I have all of the codes for the ITTY TEAM VIEWER remote control system and can access the system remotely from Puyallup, so don't be reluctant to call, it just may take some time to get things squared away.

2 - Last summer a telephone museum located in the mountains west of San Jose, California burned to the ground.

After my associate Sarah Autumn finishes her selection for goodniks for her teletype efforts, the balance of my goodies will be transported to the museum for future display in their replacement location.

Right now they are in the process of sifting through and hauling away the ashes of the facility. Imagine a 7000 square foot building with nothing left but a few telephone system frames still standing. The environmental considerations mandate that the ashes be hauled to somewhere in Nevada for disposal.

3 - Upon my return from Puyallup I will be contacting Paul Heller in Denver to see how things are going for the ITTY cutover to his location, and when ready, ITTY will move to the Denver area.

4 - As soon as we get a small vacuum system operating we will begin making the model 28 Typing Perf and Reperf heads.

The vacuum system will be employed to draw out whatever bubbles may form in the elastomer so that the product will not suffer from problems due to possible voids in the finished items. This will be the most critical part of the process due to the 20 minute pot life of the elastomer.

The mold itself is work of art which was machined to a tolerance of .0005". It will produce 25 items per batch. Cure time is 48 hours. Wish us a tad of luck.

I am hoping a small vacuum pump will be found in the piles of basements and garages that will be unveiled at the swap meet!

A good weekend to all..

May the chads be with you...
