[GreenKeys] M33ASR Mystery UCC

I hate to get into this as I don't like dealing with RS 232 adapters, but the question I have is related to the picture Julien sent. 
On the board is printed Receive and Send with 2 terminals each.  Is the labeling referring to the adapter or to the teletype Send and Receive? 
  
This can be confusing if you don't know the answer.  
  
If you guys already know the answer, sorry I butted in.
