Doug,
The "nut" is an elongated one that drops down into the comb bracket to keep it captured. When tightened it squeezes the frame and holds the comb where you want it. A tricky job to install. Easy to remove. Its ready when I have your address.

Subject: [GreenKeys] 33 puzzle
See attached photo. My TTY Model 33 has a loose comb to align the left ends of the codebars (the arrow in the figure points to it). How is this supposed to look?
I believe that my loose part is described in my copy of BULLETIN 1184B, MODEL 32 AND 33 PAGE PRINTER SET, Issue 2, Nov. 1964, SECTION 574-122-800TC page 9 (drawing) and page 34 (parts list) as:
180959 Bracket
Judging by the drawing, I am missing:
180958 Nut (6-40 Lug)
181240 Screw, Self-Tapping (6-40)
How long is this screw? I have (I think) one 6-40 screw in my misc pile. The nut looks distinctive, I'll search the baggie where things in the ???What's this??? category have been put, but if I can't find it, I'm pretty sure I can manufacture it -- can someone take a close-up photo of one next to something of known size -- the edge of a ruler, the screw, or some such? Or, has someone got a spare.
Strangely, I note that having this comb rattling around on the end of the codebars doesn't seem to hurt the performance of that part of the mechanism. Other things don't work right, but the data path from the keyboard to the paper-tape punch is good. Our current challenge is to adjust all of the adjustments in the spacing area so that typing actually spaces out instead of everything you type overprinting (which is what it does now -- but it usually types the right character, and linefeed usually works).

PS. I scanned the Nov. 1964 parts list. If anyone wants a copy, the PDF is 50.1 MB. The scans are nice quality, but you pay a price for that in the size of the result.
