I made a tape years ago that rang the bell in time interspersed with
the lyrics to "Match in the gas tank- BOOM BOOM!" In the holiday
season, it was common to hear "Jingle Bells" tapes. Remember, letters or
commands must be used between the rings to space them out on a tape. If
one is transmitting in real time at the keyboard, just ringing the bell
in rythum is all you need to do. USAF teletype maintainance people would
send anything unclassified they wanted to on wire circuits between
themselves, and the melody lines of songs were often shared for playing
later. The notes were letters A-G, a sharp was the note followed by an H
or # , octave changes were denoted by a 2 for the octave below middle
"C" and a 4 for the octave above. It worked well when a somewhat
musical person would read the text and chant the note names to the
person playing the instrument. One of the many ways we had fun.
