That sounds like something I could do! I've emailed an instrument repair shop to see about getting the screw & if they don't turn one up, I'll give that a try.

You could chuck up a longer, larger screw in a drill press so you coulduse the thinner side of a file to "machine" the shaft down tothe appropriate size for the die. After cutting off the chucked upportion of the screw re-threading should be possible.
