You can make a suitable tool using an appropriately sized / shaped flat
piece of wood (or thin circuit board material) that has 2500 grit wet-o-dry
paper glued to each face. For instance, you could use a popsicle stick for
larger relays with widely-spaced contacts.. and progressively smaller
pieces of similar shape as the contacts allow.

First clean-up the contacts with alcohol, etc. then burnish once dry.
Finish with the lightest film of contact preservative / enhancer that you
can manage to apply. The red Pro Gold is ideal for this - one little $4
tube will last the average guy a lifetime.
