Interesting how something like this gets the press... and how it had the
word "steampunk" in the listing.

The seller "s0up_dragon" responded to a message I sent when I was looking
at all the items on eBay
listed under "teletype". I found the motor with the "steampunk" descriptor
in the title, and thought I'd
"chime in" and give him some info on why it looked the way it did.
S0up_dragon replied shortly afterward
thanking me for the information I gave, and added it into the listing. So
someone new to all things "Teletype"
got some insight into what they had listed, and I got some insight on how
it really did look kindasorta
"steampunk".

While I doubt I would ever wander off into the realm of all things
Steampunk'd I do admire creativity. I don't
mean the "gears on everything" aesthetic. I mean the fascinating creations
that look like they might have
been a part of the Victorian/Industrial/Will Smith's "Wild Wild West"-
remember that movie and the arch-
villian's giant mechanical spider, and all the latest "tech" gear in it?
That's what I mean. John Nagle's "Aetheric
Message Machine" looks like it could have came out of that era too.

It be wat it look like it be, folks. I'm just glad it's still a part of
this world. Maybe we're a culture too, like steampunks.
Y'think? If I slept with a nite lite, it'd be a model 15 motor, mounted on
a shipping board, with the striped wheel and
all. Heck, I might even have it start running for a wake-up alarm!

Future mechanical savant and Teletype Guru,

Mark
