But not completely. None of those are possible without mining, too, for metals. The rarer metals necessary for solar cells need more exploration, more digging up the land & more mine & smelting waste to clean up. Plastics for cheap parts & for insulation require petroleum. Hydro dams drown huge swaths of land (a resource). Solar cell farms also take large pieces of land out of other uses. There's no such thing as a free lunch. :-)

Same here in Australia; the coal industry is advertising heavily against 
wind turbines, putting up shills to complain about turbine noise etc.
