Have you ever noticed that some M28 TDs have a round hole at the top of the
feed wheel slot and some don't?

Locating hole for the tape deflector as fitted on the multiple TD base

The deflector is a gadget that can pivot into place when you want the tape
to feed back toward you or out of the way when you want the tape to feed
through to the other side of the TD.
