For a pile of boards which was NOT well packed, Eric's suggestion of
following the power wiring is excellent.
The ST-6 was produced over several generations of production changes,
revisions & improvements, as well as factory wired and rat's nest cable
harnesses, changing wire sizes, laced harnesses as well as ty-raps, and
an array of different colored wires.
Additionally, the circuit board retaining and stabilization arrangement
changed as well, and was never really optimal.
Rule of thumb should BE SURE YOU REMOVE THE BOARDS AND WRAP THEM IN
BUBBLE WRAP >>AFTER<< you take the time to note their slot and mark the
board.
I suggest that when packing or after you KNOW it is working correctly,
number each card socket location sequentially with a magic marker. Then
using said magic marker, place a series of dots on each board
corresponding to the number on the socket location, reasonably close to
the socket. This assures correct location AND CORRECT POLARITY
The socket #1 board would have one dot on the edge CLOSEST to the
number, Socket#2 would have TWO DOTS closest to the number, and so on
down the line.
Once the boards are suitably wrapped, stuff the boards INSIDE THE
CHASSIS and make sure they are all well-wrapped and with enough padding
amongst the boards so as to preclude damage from being joggled around
while in shipment. Then put the cover on, put in the screws, and wrap
the whole unit in enough bubble wrap to assure the chance of minimal or
no damage in transit.
Wal-Mart charges about $16.50 for a 150-foot roll of bubble wrap which
is perfect for this project. Remember that it is customary to charge for
shipping and handling, so don't be afraid to pay for and pass on the
cost of what materials it takes to reasonably assure safe arrival. Doing
so will make you look REALLY GOOD, and will have the buyer offering
high-praise in the insanely important FEEDBACK ARENA.
