It's fun watching those old reruns to see all the 1950s cars in "new"
condition.

I'm glad you discovered this old show. "Highway Patrol" was a
syndicated show, never on a network although it was probably carried by
some network affiliates. The shows were produced on a very low budget,
according to IMDB about $20,000 per episode. Even accounting for
inflation that is very cheap. I remember it from its original
appearance being nearly twice your age. It was quite popular and was
often parodied mostly because of Brodrick Crawford's delivery. The plots
are somewhat ragged and one wonders a little how they got there from
where they started. The shows on You Tube seem to come from various
sources, one had an EBS warning from KTLA, a local TV station here so
was undoubtedly recorded off the air within the last few years. A couple
have electronic transitions so its possible they were edited a little.
I watch them mostly because of the locations. I grew up in the Los
Angeles of the early and mid 1950s a few blocks from the studio where
these programs were made. The locations were in L.A. and Ventura
counties mostly, none too far from "home" due to cost. The San Fernando
Valley, which is now well developed was still largely undeveloped and
farm land at the time. Its fascinating to me to try to recognize where
some of the locations were. Beside this "Highway Patrol" occasionally
features a few actresses who were well known pin-up models at the time
and a couple of former Playboy playmates such as Linne Ahlstrand and the
redoubtable Diane Weber. Once in a while some one who became a star later.
