Gil, I’m a relatively new list subscriber and it would help if I knew what the expectations are for this list (maybe it was sent to me, but I don’t remember seeing it).
I have three model 33’s and was interested in this list for help in repairing and using them, along with helping others when I could (Wayne, you have been great by the way!). Just reading about how others are fixing/maintaining their equipment has been a big help for me.
There has also been ample stories about TTY and RTTY equipment, which I have found very interesting and has brought me into buying TU’s and other RTTY equipment to play around with.
However, I wasn’t sure if this list was intended to be primarily a support group for keeping old machines running, a story sharing group, a buyers/sellers group, or something else. Is there a “list rules” or expectations document, or is this kind of just defined informally by the group?
I’m more curious than anything, but I also think that in light of what happened to Ed# that it would be good to make sure those of us that are fairly new (I think I’ve been on here for about a year) have a clear idea of the expectations for our posts.
Thanks,
PJ

Subject: [GreenKeys] Ed Sharpe
I hate dealing with this stupid shit. I have work to do, bills to pay, and life is too frickin' short...
For years now, "many" greenkeys members have been complaining that Ed Sharpe has been bogarting this forum. I have had to intervene and try to patch things up, to keep things running smoothly. A couple of years ago I put him on moderation to calm things down, and a few months later let him wander free in the wild again, hoping he learned a lesson.
A few weeks ago it came to a head again when someone called him out on all his vague rambling posts. He called my cell phone at 9:30 that night to "talk about it." I did not answer. But I put him on moderation.
He had 138 posts in November, an absurd number of posts for any member. Most were one-liner nonsense.
For several weeks, I have been quietly discarding 3/4 of his (now moderated) posts, but letting a few rational posts through.
He was today again on a rant with many posts (you did not see most of them, since I have him moderated), and after not getting his way, he called my cell phone at 10:30 tonight, and left a 3-minute message about this tty shit in California.
That did it. 10:30? Really? I need to leave my cell phone on in case my 86-yo mother has a problem, and I do not need to be woken up by this silly nonsense.
Ed# has been deleted from greenkeys. This is only the second time I have taken such drastic measures -- years ago some joker would not stop with personal-opinion political posts, and I deleted him. This makes two times in 20+years as moderator that I have asserted greenkeys executive power. I try to stay out of things -- I really do. But don't piss me off.
So, you can call me an ass, vote to have me replaced, or whatever, but I have no more patience for this nonsense.
If this was a modern forum, everyone would be able to easily block crap from specific individuals, and never see it. But this is an old-school email list, a "reflector" as some call it, and there are no such controls.
I need to get some sleep.
