Alf,
The AN/SGC-1 was popular back in the "real RTTY" days. It was very
easy to
convert to standard RTTY tones (I had a few of them back then).
There
was an article in an old RTTY Journal about how to convert it. It
also had
a rudimentary "autostart" feature for motor control which would
make
sense if it was used on VHF circuits. It was not a good TU for HF
use.
I believe the tones were 500 and 700 HZ. There were some later
Tempest
Dovetron terminal units that were modified to tune down to those
low tones. The
"normal" MARK/SPACE tone range for the Dovetrons was 1000 to 3000
HZ.

Hi,
A big thank you to Jack, Nick and Jeff for ID-ing this TU so
quickly.
I'm sure other will have recognised it too.
Curiosity now satisfied.
