[GreenKeys] de-gumming a 33

Hi guys -
Starting to try to diagnose some problems in my 33's keyboard.  The culprit (not surprisingly) seems to be gummed up old oil - the spring on the universal code bar barely moves it b/c its pivot is so sticky.  With all the plastics in this assembly, I know better than to use any kind of solvents (boy, how I wish I could use mineral spirits like I did for my 15!), but what do you suggest for trying to clean this part, and for that matter other parts of a 33?  Simple green and water? Dawn dish detergent?  If a water-based method is used, what's the best way to dry it?
I'm sure this has been asked and answered before; I tried to search the archives, but got 404's on both the basic and advanced searches.
Thanks,
Keith
