When you ship it without the shipping bolts the loose typing unit can damage the plastic cover and other things if it bangs around. Usually the only thing tipping it on its back will do will disconnect the H shaped link between the typing unit (TU) and keyboard. Just remove the cover and verify the TU is seated on the bottom properly, then check the link to the keyboard.

Before you power it up check the print hammer and verify the rubber isn’t worn off or rotten. It can be replaced with rubber tubing or a replacement is available from other members on this group. Also, spin the motor by hand and walk through a few keystrokes to make sure nothing is binding. It may be a good idea to do some clean & lube before powering it up.

Good luck!

Clay

Subject: [GreenKeys] M33 - ready to dive in

Hello everyone -

Think I'm finally ready to attack my 33ASR that I acquired a few years ago. Unfortunately, when I brought it home from the seller, I didn't know that it shouldn't be laid on its back (I did) and that the shipping screw should be installed (I didn't). Can anyone tell me what I might've screwed up, what to look for, and how to correct it?

Thanks!

Keith
