I am curios, the Underwood ribbons have eyelets at each end to work
the automatic ribbon reverse. This is also used in some other machines.
Some typewriters used other ways of reversing the ribbon, some sensing
the tension in the ribbon when it gets toward the ends, some with a
special spool (Royal). In machines that do not need the eyelet they
should be removed by cutting off the ends of the ribbon. If not they can
jam the machine. I don't know what method Teletype uses for reversal.
