And - it was at the same time that microelectronics made compression
easy, and storage of the image, and activities including computer printing
also were done well by the Japanese.  And then they had experience in
paper handling because of the copy machine business.  And the Carterfone
decision freed us from having to lease modems from the telephone company,
let us connect anything to the dialup network.

Today I guess all the copy machines make use of scanning the document
electronically, so they are in principle fax machines as well as copiers.
