[GreenKeys] Fw: Fw: model 15 motor curiosity

R/C arc supressors are often used to allow a switch rated for 60 cycle
AC to be used for DC or 25 cycle AC at a reduced current from the
rating. A switch intended for 120 volts DC has to have some sort of
magnetic blowout or a very long contact travel to snuff the arc when the
switch opens unless other external methods are used. For 60 cycle AC,
the R/C network can be disconnected, but it is still best to use it
because it greatly reduces wear on the switch contacts. If you want to
keep the supressor, use a quality mylar condensor rated for at least 600
volts DC and a flameproof resistor to replace the original ones.
