The dashpot must be adjusted so it stops the carriage, not the CR reset lever. But the reset lever must push on the enable space enough to make it work. Also in this equation is the spacing of the first two characters in the typing.

Subject: [GreenKeys] M33 Broken CR reset lever...

Hi all!

Our friend Doug has mentioned he has a broken CR reset lever...

This lever can be simply repositioned so the small projection (The
unbroken one) will contact the vertical reset mech when a CR
is transmitted or received...

Repositioning this lever will necessitate moving the dashpot
cylinder further to the right in it's elongated mounting slots...
Also the related adjustments shud be checked...

The smaller 'Lobe' on the CR lever was intended to enable
a longer line length in addition to adjusting the RHS margin
stop...

Some 33 machines ran with 74+ characters to the line...

If Doug's machine is a sprocket feed, left side margin
will for sure be changed, and adjustments must be refined so
the first & second printed characters are not squeezed!

P.S. The main reason these reset levers break is no
clearance between the reset lever and the operating lobe...

Too much bounce on CR in the dashpot can also cause
this part to break...

Also having the carriage return accidently when the platen
frame assembly is off the machine and the CR spring not
removed!

So this quick fix will work until a new reset lever actuator can
be sourced out..

Cheers!
