Hi all...
Back in the day, we used what was known in the trade as four conductor
station wire "Z"...We also called it "JKT" or simply quad-4 station wire...
We used both Belden and Northern Telecomm'ns as suppliers...
It had two pairs red/green and black/yellow...We always used the red/green
as the active pair with the red conductor carrying the + side of the
line battery...
I only recently exhausted my last remaining supply of the station "Z"
wiring from my job days...
A few days later at our local Salvation Army thrift Store, behold a
couple rolls,
abt 80' or so of the older style Belden Station "Z"...I was in my
glory...Enuf to last me the rest of my days I am sure...This was quite a find,
as it was the old 22ga. stuff, built to last...When you strip this
stuff, it doesn't
nick or break off like the new stuff (26ga)...
Last thought, I avoid any of the "New" type quad four...Made in China,
and pure "Crap"...Terrible stuff to strip w/out damaging the
conductor(s)...
In closing we routinely ran hundreds of feet of the quad 4 station wiring
inside warehouses etc. with no compromise of signal quality...
Go with confidence!
Cheers!
