[GreenKeys] Teletype Model 33 Platen Restoration

So what's the basic refurbishing technique for a platen or roller? Is it
similar to retreading a tire, where the rubber is wound on in a thin sheet,
after which the piece is placed in a heated mold to vulcanize & cure,
followed up by whatever grinding / trimming / finishing is required.
