Whoops, Ed says the chadless tape will work on 32's, but I thot I heard a
while back that they wouldn't. You can always try, but if it doesn't work,
don't be surprised.

yes! 32 reads 14 tapes well!

I'm new to the field; _very_ new. I've been following matters here for a
number of months, in large part because I found myself in the possession of
a restorable Model 14 Receiving-only (Low Base) Typing Reperforator.
Outside is a little beat up, but the insides have been kept well lubricated and
mostly seems to be suffering from a moderate amount of congealed grease.
The internal sound-deadening foam is actually intact (which surprises me,
but maybe not you all).
The "Aetheric Message Machine Company" has a bounty of Model 14 manuals
online (thank you!) from which I was able to identify my possession, and
learn about chadless perforating ... and why one would want to do such a thing
:->!
I also received an ASR-32 which was stated to be working "last year", and
although 5-level code is not what I grew up with (I'm an ASR-33 baby I
guess ...), it seems to me that the ASR-32 ought to be able to read the
M14-produced tape, because of its pin-based reader. Do I have that correct?
And one other question: The left edge of the base has a cutout, behind
which is a pre-wired cable harness that has been neatly taped and tied off.
My best guess is that a transmitter-distributer might have attached there,
but I can't find any reference to such a configuration. Does anyone know
what purpose was served there?
Any warnings that you'd care to toss-my-way will be heeded :->.
Good health,
paul
