Keys,
First, sorry for the size of the attached .jpgs - I am not computer savvy enough to create links to a photobucket but wanted to share the results and contact information for the list archives.
I finally finished restoring the pedestals, hardware and feet for the 4x Model 33's ('369, '269, '789 & '614). The first two photos are the front and side of one of the pedestals (they all looked about the same, some better, some worse, this one was in the middle). The machines were sitting in a warehouse and unfortunately exposed to the elements for 20+ years. More unfortunately, a couple appeared to be sitting in an area that was frequently exposed to leaking rain water.
First, I disassembled all the pieces and soaked the feet and associated hardware in Evapo-Rust - AWESOME stuff BTW! You can get it here:Evapo-Rust Rust Remover 1 gallon ER012: Advance Auto Parts

Next, the feet were sent over to S.A.L. Plating in Deerfield Beach where they were stripped to bare metal, plated with a healthy coat of brushed nickel then flash chrome that really captures the original cosmetics of the part. All the hardware was sent to KPC Southern Industries for stripping/zinc plating. I went with the original finish for each part. The adj. foot brackets were done in clear zinc, the short/long bolts in yellow zinc. Front rubber feet were cleaned with Simple Green and Armor All. The third photo shows the result after plating.
The pedestal cabinets and backs were sent to Auto Restoration Depot in Wauchula FL where they were chemically (non-acid) bath stripped to bare metal and rust proofed (never, ever use media blasting to remove the paint on these things, it will warp the metal - ask me how I know that). From there, the cabinets went to Attitude Custom Painting in Tampa, FL. I used an OMNI + Paint that was custom HAND matched to the original panel by Terry's Auto Supply also in Pompano (they are keeping the match formula as a custom part number).
I reassembled the parts yesterday and took two "after" photos - just beautiful work, I am really pleased! I am including the contact information for the vendors I used in case anyone else decides to tackle a restoration project like this in the future.
Next update will show the completed plastic cover parts restoration work - should have those ready to post by early next week. Lastly, I will post some pix of the finished machines. Also, I have a platen in restoration right now and will post a pix of that along with contact and pricing information.
Thanks.--daveW5DT
