Some day I'll get to my 029, They are rare and the 129 is in the Model 12
classification. You could say 029's or 026's are
as rare as 37's
The 026 went to the Computer Museum a few years ago, maybe someday they
will send me a post card saying thank you.
see the picture at the bottom of

Just like Teletypes they are out there but much harder to find. The 129
that was lost in a fire about 30 yrs ago came from
the company I worked for, Tektronix. When the day came to return to IBM all
the equipment someone forgot to look in
a rarely used storage room. The one I have now came as a fluke, There was a
Craigslist article of a 35 ASR about 200
miles away [everything is > 200 ,miles away -:) ] When I called I was told
about the two keypunches, they were free.
Another 029 was found by a friend in Portland in the early 90's. So that
makes 3 in 40 years.
The good news it seems if you do find one, it will be free.
The bad news is shipping. Unless prepped correctly for shipping by a LTL
carrier survival is not ensured.
If you do find a 029/129 not much goes wrong, other then you will need to
replace all the toothed belts. And the printer
pins will more then likely be gummed up. the 029 is electo-mechanical,
older ones used IBM wire relays and later
ones reed relays. The 129 added 'brains',

Pretty much all the manuals are on line.
BTW I'm looking for the right side cover.
