Heh heh. I get a kick out of circuits whereby a teensy CMOS thingie ends
up controlling 240v (110v for the Americans[*]). On the same board.
Warnings everywhere, massive separation on the PCB, etc...

You forgot the NOR gates! Poor little things always get ignNORed... OK,

I've always referred to valves ("toobs" for the Americans) as "hollow
state". Wasn't it ENIAC that was built out of something like 18,000 807
bottles? Of course, the MTBF was pretty awful, but at least they got the
MTTR down over time.

What we call "high voltage" is 415v, with 11kv on the poles.
