On the MTS system (Michigan Terminal System, the best OS ever written for the IBM 360/67), the answer-back drum was routinely used during login. Each terminal had a unique ID programmed into its drum, and the computer triggered the answer-back to get the user's location before the user logs in.

It's not an ASR-33 (it has a type-box like a Model 35, with a dial-up UCC that looks like it would fit on a Model 33, and in a narrow case like a model 33). It uses the answer-back drum at 2:08 minutes into the video.
